What’s a measly $2.5M when you’re playing Santa Claus?

The Current Administration is stimulating the economy by sending $250 Social Security "bonus" checks to dead people.  The explanation is straight from the Bureaucrat Handbook:

The agency blames the error on the strict mid-June deadline of mailing
out all of the checks, which didn’t leave officials much time to clean
up all of their records.

Yeah, that’s the ticket.  I didn’t know company was coming, so I didn’t pick up the dirty laundry, beer cans, pizza boxes, and kitty litter in the living room.  Or shave, or shower, or get dressed.  Or even come up with a good excuse.  Of course, these folks are touchingly naive (or perhaps criminally stupid):

Social Security officials said they aren’t expecting to lose too much
money to fraud. They’re reminding the public that it’s a federal
offense to cash someone else’s Social Security check.

It’s a federal offense to cheat on your taxes, too, and look who does THAT.
